Tyre Manufacturing Date Checker

Tire DOT code location

Look for the DOT code on your tyre's sidewall (usually on the inner side)

0-3 Years: Good
3-4 Years: Check
4+ Years: Replace

(35000 km for a Tyre after that it is risk to drive with the same tyres)

How to find your tyre's manufacturing date:

  1. Locate the DOT code on your tyre's sidewall (may be on the inner side)
  2. Look for a code that starts with "DOT" followed by 10-12 characters
  3. The last 4 digits represent the manufacturing date (week and year)
  4. For example: "2319" means the tyre was manufactured in the 23rd week of 2019

Note: Tyres manufactured before 2000 use a 3-digit code.

Tyre Maintenance FAQs

1. Should I rotate my tyres?

+

Yes, regular tyre rotation promotes more uniform wear, extending tyre life. For all-season tyres, a "modified X" pattern is recommended:

  • Drive axle tyres are crossed to the opposite side
  • Non-drive axle tyres move straight to the drive axle (same side)

2. How often should I rotate my tyres?

+

It's best to rotate tyres every 8,000 to 12,000 km (5,000 to 7,500 miles), or as recommended in your vehicle's manual. Regular rotation helps prevent:

  • Uneven tread wear
  • Premature tyre replacement
  • Poor handling performance

3. When should I check wheel alignment?

+

Get a wheel alignment check if you notice:

  • Uneven tyre wear patterns
  • Vehicle pulling to one side while driving
  • Steering wheel off-center when driving straight
  • After hitting a large pothole or curb
  • After replacing steering/suspension components

4. What are signs that my wheels need balancing?

+

Common signs of wheel imbalance include:

  • Steering wheel vibration (usually between 60-100 km/h) - indicates front wheel imbalance
  • Seat or floorboard vibration - suggests rear wheel imbalance
  • Uneven tyre wear (scalloped or cupped patterns)
  • Increased road noise

5. Can I rotate tyres myself, or should I go to a professional?

+

DIY rotation is possible if:

  • You have proper jack stands and a torque wrench
  • Your vehicle has identical tyre sizes all around
  • You follow the correct rotation pattern for your drivetrain

Professional service is recommended when:

  • You have directional or staggered tyres
  • You want a complete inspection and balancing
  • You're not comfortable working with heavy equipment
